Hello Laptop, Hello World: The Blog

Check out Hello Laptop, Hello World bringing the XO to the 4th graders in the Mission Hill After-school Program!

Comp Kick-off

Tonight was our first training event for new members - our co-president Katelyn introduced the enthusiastic compers to a few activities on the XO laptop - Write, Record, and a matching game creator. I think everyone was incredibly excited to be learning how to use the XO laptop and impressed by the laptop’s capabilities.

The compers will be putting their newly-discovered skills to work with our new pilot program at Mission Hill. We’ve partnered with the hugely-successful Mission Hill after-school program at Harvard, and I’m excited to meet the kids and see what they figure out in first ten minutes. I bet they’ll be all over the activities, whereas I was just figuring out how to open a browser…

Photos to come.

by Edward Cherlin:

Including teacher training, internet and electricity costs, the total would come to $165 per child, or $165 billion overall. It is worth noting that this is not $165 billion per year, or anything like that. It is $170 billion installed and done with.

I love this photo… I would probably be spinning around the room with excitement, too.
